January 18 - February 1, 2022

We are so excited to have Read-A-Thon back again this year! Our goal is to read 300,000 minutes as a school and raise funds for curriculum and facility improvements to enhance our students’ academic success. Funds raised by the Settles Bridge Elementary Read-A-Thon help to fulfill classroom wish lists for materials such as the ARC reading curriculum, Scholastic News, and much more! Your donations will also go toward enhancing our STEM curriculum with the purchase of Zspace, a virtual learning experience for the school.

What is Read-A-Thon?

Our Read-A-Thon is a program that brings students together with family and friends to encourage reading and to build literacy skills while raising money for our school.

The main focus of the Read-A-Thon is for everyone to know we are committed to improving reading skills. To that end, the Read-A-Thon promises to be a fun, exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal Reading Adventure that challenges each reader to complete ten (10) 30-minute reading sessions during our 2-week event. (20 ARC steps of 15 minutes each.)

We understand that, as parents, you have high expectations for the quality of your child’s education but also have limited time. That’s why we chose to hold a Read-A-Thon. You will find this to be the easiest fundraiser possible.

By simply activating your reader’s personal page and using the promotional tools found there, friends and family anywhere in the world can show their support for your reader by making a donation to our Read-A-Thon.

Your involvement in the Read-A-Thon will help your child develop a lasting love of reading.

We hope each one of you will activate your child’s personal page today!

 Here's how Read-A-Thon works:

  • Read-A-Thon will run from January 18th through February 1st, 2022.
  • Families visit our Read-A-Thon link to find their student and create a reader page.
  • Students share their reader page with loved ones & request support in the form of online donations. Family & friends REALLY enjoy encouraging your student to read!
  • Once Read-A-Thon begins January 18th, students read, read, read as much as they can!
What reading counts?
  • All reading both in & out of class counts. Students will log in-class reading for themselves. Students will also log additional non-classroom reading for themselves on their readers page.
  • Reading before January 18th or after February 1st does NOT count for the Read-a-thon event.
  • For younger students, being read to by someone else counts.
  • Reading aloud to someone else (younger sibling, pet, stuffed animal, etc.) counts.  If the person being read to is also participating in Read-A-Thon, it counts for you both!
  • Reading assigned for homework counts
  • All readers must set up their profile to log minutes towards classroom contests!
