SBE PTO Committees
Our committees are the heart and soul of our PTO, the people who keep our fundraising efforts and community programs running all year long. Time spent volunteering for SBE can be rewarding and fun. There is something for everyone, at every level of volunteerism.
A brief description of each committee is below. If you are interested in joining a committee, email the PTO board to get involved. Whether you have 30 minutes or 30 hours, we are thrilled to have the benefit of your support and time. Thank you for helping make SBE the best it can be!
All Pro Dads Committee
2024-25 Chair - Zach Vail
This is a national nonprofit organization supported by the National Football League. This program supports opportunities for men to bond with their children by utilizing sports figures and other significant community leaders to share their unique stories of success. All Pro Dads provides everything needed to successfully connect dads with their kids at school through a series of lessons provided to the Chair for this Committee.
Book Fair Committee
2024-25 Chairs - Sarah Murphy, Jamie Holleman
The goal of this reading enrichment committee is to organize and staff an on-site, weeklong book fair to encourage and excite students and families to read. Proceeds support the purchase of new books for the school. With this being a twice per school year, week-long fundraising event, it is ideal that there are two Chairs for this Committee.
Community Rewards Committee
2024-25 Chair - 1 open position
This committee is responsible for researching and enrolling SBE PTO in various retailer rewards programs (Box Tops, Amazon Smile, Publix Partners, Kroger Rewards etc.) and encourage the SBE community to participate in these programs to raise funds for our school.
Family Event Committee
2024-25 Chairs Fall Family Event - Natalie Smith
2024-25 Chairs Spring Family Event - Jaclyn Bacon
Organize a special event where families can create lifelong memories. This special event gives our SBE families a chance to spend some quality time together. This event could be anything from a dance, roller skating, family game night, movie night, show, sporting event, or a night at a trampoline park.
FOCO PTO Programs Committee
2024-25 Chairs - 2 open positions
Each year, the Forsyth County PTO/A Council holds two district-wide programs, the Impressions Art Contest and the Honoring Our Heroes Essay Contest. Impressions is a Fine Arts program with six different categories based on a defined theme. Honoring Our Heroes is a writing contest designed to encourage students to discover “real life” heroes. This Committee will organize these two programs for SBE students. This committee requires two chairs.
Front Door Enhancement/Bulletin Board Committee
2024-25 Chair Front Door - 1 open position
2024-25 Chair Bulletin Board - 1 open position
This committee brightens the front entrance of the school by decorating for different seasons and holidays. This committee is also responsible for creating and maintaining the PTO bulletin board just inside the school. The board should be changed monthly and can either highlight events or PIEs – depending on the direction of the board.
Hospitality Committee
2024-25 Chairs - Carolyn Ellithorp and Saba Valji
The hospitality committee has the responsibility of establishing a friendly, comfortable atmosphere between the PTO, members and school staff. This committee hosts staff luncheons, new family breakfast, and plans and executes Staff Appreciation Week in the spring. They also organize our monthly car rider line volunteers.
Large Events Committee
2024-25 Chairs Fall Family Event - Natalie Smith
2024-25 Chairs Spring Family Event - Jaclyn Bacon
This committee will plan two large events, one in the fall and one in the spring. Examples of events include carnivals, bingo night, trivia night, science night. Since these events will require more time to plan and execute, ideally there will be two chairs for this committee.
Membership Committee
2024-25 Chair - 1 open position
This committee will plan and execute the annual PTO Membership campaign. This involves creating marketing material, determining membership incentives, working with executive board to create online enrollment forms and planning/executing PTO booth at Open House.
Partners in Education/Donations Committee
2024-25 Chair PIES- Heather Hoffman
2024-25 Chair Donations - 1 open position
Partners in Education (PIES) are local businesses who pledge to support SBE through donations and/or services. This committee proactively seeks out businesses that would welcome the opportunity to promote their business to our community while offering a benefit to our students and SBE families. This committee also organizes monthly spirit night fundraisers at local restaurants and assists other committees with securing donations of supplies or prizes for their events.
Fundraising Committee
2024-25 Chairs - Emily Matheis and Allison Krawczyk
This committee executes our largest fundraiser of the year. The committee will work with a vendor to set up the website and plan contests and prizes to encourage the students and their families to participate.
Small/Medium Events Committee
2024-25 Chairs - 1-4 open positions
This committee will plan four small to medium events, one each quarter. These can be either in-person events or social media events. Examples include pumpkin decorating contest, trunk or treat, valentine-gram sales, holiday singalong, scavenger hunts, etc.
Spirit Wear Committee
2024-25 Chairs - Emily Matheis and Allison Krawczyk
The spirit wear committee offers SBE families the opportunity to purchase a variety of wearable promotional merchandise bearing the SBE School logo. The committee will secure a vendor, choose merchandise offerings, track orders and distribute merchandise.
Yearbook Committee
2024-25 Chairs - Jamie Holleman and Molly Edwards
This committee is responsible for all aspects of getting the yearbook into production as well as coordinating and communicating sales.
